An insight into the financial windfall set to come the way of Barcelona owing to La Liga rivals Almería’s decision to part with Sergio Akieme has been provided this evening.
Akieme, for his part, saw his long-touted exit from the Power Horse Stadium made official earlier today.
On the back of weeks of negotiations between the respective boards at Almería and French outfit Stade Brestois, the latter struck an agreement, to bring the left-back in with immediate effect.
Almería, for their part, have bagged a fee of around €10 million as part of the deal.
As alluded to above, however, the Rojiblancos are not the only La Liga outfit in line to benefit from Akieme’s transfer.
This comes amid confirmation that Barcelona, too, are entitled to a small percentage of the sum forked over by Brest.
Akieme, for his part, was on Barca’s books from 2019 to 2021, before a loan stint with Almería gave rise to a permanent move for €3.5 million.
As per a report from Victor Navarro of Cope, as part of this agreement, the Blaugrana also secured a 10% sell-on clause, to be based on Almería’s capital gain from any future sale.
This gain, as of today, totals €6.5 million, meaning Barca are set for a cash injection of around €650,000.
