Benjamin Pavard and Francesco Acerbi are hoping to return from injury in time for Inter Milan’s Supercoppa Italiana clash with Atalanta.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that the pair will certainly travel with the squad for the competition.
At the moment, both Acerbi and Pavard are on the shelf with injuries.
Both of the two defenders picked up thigh strains last month. Acerbi in a Serie A match against Hellas Verona, and Pavard against RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
In the case of Acerbi, the Italian international veteran’s recovery has taken longer than anticipated.
The progress has dragged on for the former Lazio and Sassuolo defender. He had initially hoped to be back around the start of December, but his injury has lingered.
Pavard, on the other hand, has long been targeting the end of December or the start of January to make his return.
At the moment, it is not exactly certain when either Acerbi or Pavard will be back.
But the feeling is that it’s now a matter of days.
Therefore, both of the two defenders will be part of the squad for the Nerazzurri squad that travels to Saudi Arabia for the Supercoppa Italiana.
Inter’s first match in that competition is a semifinal clash with Atalanta next week. Pavard and Acerbi will see if they can be available for that match.
