In a week’s time, Real Madrid will lock horns with FC Barcelona in the finals of the Copa del Rey at Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville.
Leading up to the game, Los Blancos are sweating over the fitness of key forward Kylian Mbappe, who is recovering from an ankle sprain he sustained in the game against Arsenal.
There is hope within the Real Madrid camp that Mbappe can recover in time for the big game against Hansi Flick’s men, who themselves now look set to be without an important player.
Indeed, according to AS, there is growing pessimism within Barcelona over Robert Lewandowski’s availability for the Copa del Rey final.
The Polish striker was forced off in the 77th minute of the La Liga game vs Celta Vigo earlier today, visibly distressed and clutching the back of his left thigh.

Initial feelings in the dressing room suggest the worst: a suspected tear in the biceps femoris, which could sideline Lewandowski for at least three weeks, effectively ruling him out of the Copa del Rey final on 26 April.
Although tests are still pending, the atmosphere in the dressing room was sombre. The player himself was reportedly heard saying, “I have torn it,” as he left the pitch with his head down.
Should the diagnosis be confirmed, Lewandowski would be ruled out of the cup final against Los Blancos, which would come as a major boost for Carlo Ancelotti & co.
Barcelona are already set to be without another key player – Alejandro Balde – for the cup final. Should Lewandowski also miss out, they will be weakened considerably, providing Real Madrid with a great chance to secure a victory and lift the trophy.
