Therefore Roma coach Claudio Ranieri has put the breaks on links with Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi.
The Giallorossi coach spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, ahead of his team’s clash with Bologna today.
In recent days, the future of Frattesi has been the subject of a lot of speculation.
Reportedly, the Italian international is unhappy with his lack of playing time at Inter.
There have even been reports that Frattesi has asked the club to leave. Possibly as early as during the January transfer window.
Roma have been the club most strongly linked with a potential move for Frattesi. However, they aren’t the only ones, with Napoli also among the 25-year-old’s suitors.
For his part, however, Roma’s coach Ranieri feels that there would be major obstacles to signing Frattesi.
Even if the capital club do see the 25-year-old as a target, they’d still have to work out a deal with Inter.
And by all accounts, the Nerazzurri would only consider selling Frattesi if it’s for a very high fee.
Ranieri said that “There’s nothing definitive yet,” as far as his club’s interest in Frattesi.
“The way that I’ve read in the newspapers.”
“Logically, we can’t just be spending all that money,” the Roma coach made clear. “Honestly.”
Reports have indicated that the Giallorossi have considered offering a player plus cash deal.
However, by that same token, Inter are not reportedly very interested in such an idea. They would only want a straight cash bid for Frattesi.
Therefore, there could still be a long way to go before a transfer could actually happen.
