Ivan Juric is hanging by a thread at Roma after the disastrous five-one loss to Fiorentina and an underwhelming spell in general. It’s not so certain the Giallorossi would turn back to Daniele De Rossi if they pulled the plug, Corriere dello Sport informs.
The top brass is keeping things close to the vest. A few coaches are starting to get linked to the potential opening. The owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin are currently in New York. The ex-midfielder is there too, but it could be a coincidence.
Should they fire Juric, Roma will consider Roberto Mancini, who was recently axed by Saudi Arabia, Massimiliano Allegri, and Claudio Ranieri. The ex-Cagliari gaffer retired at the end of last season, but he might be talked into coming back, perhaps teaming up with De Rossi. There have been some preliminary contacts with him, ReteSport informs.
According to La Repubblica, the former Italy gaffer would have to renounce a lot of money to coach another team in the next few months. The ex-Juventus boss is a long shot. He’s never taken over a side midseason and is well aware of the problems. Maurizio Sarri is also an option and might be keener.
Continuing with the current manager would be justified only by the lack of time but would be a painfully stubborn choice. He hasn’t gelled with the environment and hasn’t brought much to the table. It’s too early to go with a caretaker manager. If it’s not De Rossi, they have to pick a super-established boss, which isn’t easy at this time of the year.
