Manchester United’s season is still alive. Languishing in lower-mid table in the Premier League, all of their eggs are in the UEFA Europa League basket.
The Red Devils got the job done in extremis against Olympique Lyonnais at Old Trafford on Thursday night, netting three goals in seven minutes to reverse a two-goal deficit and progress to the semi-finals of the competition. Harry Maguire’s winner came in injury-time in extra-time (5-4, agg. 7-6).
In a press conference attended by Get French Football News, Amorim asked if this was his best feeling as a manager. “It is hard to say but in here, the sound of the stadium on the two last goals was amazing. We can keep that for the future. It is a good feeling,” responded the Manchester United manager.
Amorim added that the victory, as well as the Europa League campaign more generally, is a welcome distraction. “I think that these moments can help players a lot in a season, in this kind of context. It can create a connection between the fans and the players and we can forget for a few moments the season that we are having,” said Amorim.
