Selles believes Giles will also have a big say on his future, as well as the Tigers, who only signed him permanently in the summer.
Hull City boss Ruben Selles has failed to rule out an exit for Ryan Giles during this window, with the player attracting interest from Middlesbrough.
Speaking to BBC Radio Humberside, Selles revealed that the Tigers are keeping an "open conversation" with the player, as he continues to be linked with a move away from the MKM Stadium.
The left-back joined the club permanently from Luton Town after his loan spell in East Yorkshire came to an end, but shortly after he made the permanent switch, there was speculation over his future.
That's because Boro had revived their interest in the player, but they were unable to get a summer deal over the line for him in the end.
Football League World understands Michael Carrick's side have retained their interest in the wide man - and are now in talks to recruit the full-back.
It's no surprise that Boro have retained their interest in the player, having seen him shine at the Riverside during their promotion-chasing 2022/23 campaign.
With Giles being heavily linked with a move away from the MKM Stadium, it's perhaps no surprise that Selles has refused to rule out a winter exit for the player.
He told BBC Radio Humberside (quotes via Teesside Live): "We obviously keep an open conversation with Ryan.
"We have been working together now for six or seven weeks and there are things that we can improve. We have constant communication with him and he has played for us, especially in the very, very beginning.
"He’s played a little bit less recently since the Preston substitution when he felt something in his hamstring. It’s a situation we need to monitor very closely.
"We are talking with him and we have already established that we need to sign a left-back this month. Let’s therefore see what the decision is, not only for us, but also him."
Boro could benefit from having Giles at their disposal again.
He played a big part in their successful 2022/23 campaign and offers plenty going forward, which can only help the Teesside outfit.
His attacking contributions could be particularly important if Emmanuel Latte Lath leaves before the end of the window.
Hull may also benefit from this move - because Giles hasn't defended very well for the Tigers at times this season and many fans would be happy to see a replacement come in.
It would be difficult to see him not leaving the MKM Stadium before the window closes.
