Parma clawed their way back to draw with Empoli, but also wasted the opportunity to win it when Ange-Yoan Bonny fired a penalty onto the crossbar.
Both sides were in a poor period of form, as the Ducali had three points from six rounds, while the Tuscans lost two on the bounce. Nahuel Estevez, Alessandro Circati, Yordan Osorio, Adrian Benedyczak and Mateusz Kowalski missed out for the hosts, though Woyo Coulibaly returned from suspension. The visitors were without Sebastiano Esposito, Luca Belardinelli, Saba Sazonov and Samuele Perisan.
Bonny forced an early save out of Devis Vasquez on the Dennis Man knockdown, but took the lead with a well-worked team move.
Emmanuel Gyasi ran onto the Lorenzo Colombo through ball and flashed it across the face of goal for Jacopo Fazzini to come sliding in from six yards, though Coulibaly got the final touch.

Matteo Cancellieri came close to an equaliser on the stroke of half-time, his ferocious long-range strike smashing against the crossbar.
Bonny tested Devis Vasquez from distance with a dipping strike, then Adrian Bernabé did the same with a free kick that was flying into the top corner.
Zion Suzuki ran a risk when rushing out clumsily on Colombo, but the growing Parma pressure finally paid off when Emanuele Valeri pulled back from the left for Gabriel Charpentier to fire in from just inside the box.
Moments later, Empoli risked a total collapse when Pontus Almqvist ran onto a through ball and was hooked by Vasquez. However, Bonny blasted the resulting Parma penalty onto the crossbar.
