L’Équipe report this afternoon that Sevilla have submitted a bid for Strasbourg centre-back Alexander Djiku, whose contract expires at the end of the current season.
The Ghana international has long been a target of the Andalusian club, and this weekend the La Liga outfit put a €2m offer on the table. The fee includes bonuses which are easily reached, as well as a potential cut of a future sale.
The Alsatians would like to bring in double that figure for the 28-year-old, and although they are hesitant on letting their vice-captain go, his departure would free up space on the wage bill.
Should he make the move across to the other side of the Pyrenees, Djiku would be throwing himself into another relegation battle – Strasbourg currently sit 16th, having only just moved out of the relegation zone with their second win of the season, over Lyon. Sevilla are in a similarly precarious position, lying in 19th in La Liga.
