Celtic are almost certain to win the league this season, no matter what happens in the upcoming Glasgow Derby at Parkhead. But despite that, one would imagine that the Hoops are eager to win this game after losing 3-0 away at Ibrox in the previous meeting between the two rivals. That is recipe for a great matchup.
We already know that the Rangers will enter the game on an incredible high or a major low. That is because they have the Europa League Round of 16 second leg against Fenerbahce right before the Glasgow Derby.
At this moment, the Rangers look very likely to go through to the next round. They won 3-1 away against Fenerbahce in the first leg. Jose Mourinho's side had not tasted defeat in 18 matches before that.
On the other hand, Celtic fans will not be happy with a decision made by the SFA regarding the game. John Beaton will be on VAR duty on the day.
Of course, there is not much left to say regarding the dynamic involving Celtic, the Rangers and Beaton. As a result, most supporters do not want to see him being involved in this matchup.
Beaton officiated two of the sides' previous three meetings this season. He will be assisted by Sean Carr.
On the other hand, Steven McLean will be the referee on the day. The last time he refereed a Glasgow Derby in May 2023, it turned out to be a 3-0 win for the Rangers over Celtic at Ibrox. Graeme Stewart and Dougie Potter are the assistant referees.
Celtic cannot spend too much time thinking about who will officiate the game. Their task is to put in the best performance possible and win on the day over the Rangers.
