Shakhtar Donetsk Star Very Open to Napoli Switch

Georgyi Sudakov has been attached to Napoli a few times in the past, and he’s hopeful the deal will come to fruition eventually. He spoke to Tuttomercatoweb.

“I’ve read about their interest, which pleases me. When a club of that caliber eyes you, it’s a nice recognition of your work and improvements. Especially an Italian one, where the tactical intelligence and quality midfielders are very appreciated. It means that I’m going in the right direction.”

Sudakov hasn’t reached out to Napoli coach Antonio Conte personally.

“We haven’t had any phone call or text. Working with him would be a great opportunity. However, I always try to stay calm and collected. It’s important to never lose focus. I’m here at Shakhtar Donetsk, and everything will happen at the right time. That’s crucial to me. If it’s a transfer to Italy, it’d be excellent. If it’s something else, it’d be good anyway. The most important thing is to make some progress every day.”

Sudakov is keen on joining Napoli or other elite sides.

“Clearly, when you are talking about a club like them or Juventus, it’s a dream for every player. I’ve grown up watching the Serie A. I remember the great games of your top teams and the legends who passed through. Playing in those stadiums and those fans would be special. I’ve never hidden that I want to try measuring up to a high-end league and against the best footballers. However, I don’t want just to go to Europe per se but rather move to an outfit where I’ll have a chance to play, grow, and be an important part of the project.”
