Roma have set their sights on Udinese striker Beto in order to replace Eldor Shomurodov.
The Uzbek is in fact projected to leave Roma in January after failing to impress Claudio Ranieri.
According to Il Messaggero, Roma and Shomurodov’s entourage are trying to find him a new club to join in the bottom half of Serie A.
Empoli, Cagliari and Venezia have all expressed interest.
The main obstacle is represented by Shomurodov’s salary of 1.5 million euros which prevents any of these teams from signing him on a permanent deal.
His departure would enable Roma to secure his replacement, namely Everton’s Beto, for whom Roma have already held talks.
The newspaper states that Everton are against loaning him out.
However, an exception could be made for Roma whose owners are now the same ones as Everton’s.
The Toffees could ask to include an option in the loan deal worth around 16 million euros.
