Soccer Aid 2024: Euro 2022 winning England duo reunited | OneFootball

Ellen White is the latest name to be added to the 2024 Soccer Aid for UNICEF lineup. England Women’s all-time top goalscorer will be reunited with some former teammates for the world’s biggest charity football match.

White, who retired from professional football after the Lionesses’ historic Euro 2022 triumph, will make her Soccer Aid debut this summer. The 34-year-old will once again don the iconic white strip as she hopes to help England break the World XI’s dominant run.

Fans have a lot to look forward to as White will linkup with Soccer Aid England captain Jill Scott. The iconic duo spent a lot of time together during their playing career with the Lionesses and at Manchester City. Both White and Scott decided to hang up their boots after winning Euro 2022.

Karen Carney will also play alongside her former teammates this summer. The trio have more than 400 senior England caps between them and were all part of the bronzer medal-winning Lionesses side at the 2015 World Cup. England were knocked out by Japan in the semi-finals but went on to beat Germany in the third place play-off match. White, Scott and Carney all represented Team GB at the 2012 Olympics as well.

The Soccer Aid World XI are currently on a five-year winning streak. The three Lionesses will be hoping to break England’s duck and lift the trophy at Stamford Bridge this year. They will be joined by the likes of Jermain Defoe, Jack Wilshere and Joe Cole, as well as a star-studded list of celebrities.

Information on Soccer Aid for UNICEF

This will be the 13th edition of Soccer Aid, a British annual charity football match raising money for UNICEF. Since its launch in 2006, the event has raised £90 million and smashed a record £14.6 million last year alone.

The money raised from this year’s game could help UNICEF protect children from disease and malnutrition, support their mental health and respond in times of crisis, so they can get back to learning when schools are destroyed. It could also help provide vaccines to prevent common childhood diseases such as measles, so that children around the world can grow up happy, healthy and able to play.

Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea FC, will host this year’s Soccer Aid for UNICEF match on Sunday, June 9th. Here are the full England and World XI lineups so far. More names are due to be announced over the coming weeks.
