Spurs duo receive awards

Although Spurs have not played in what feels like forever, which many are glad about, there has still been plenty to talk about. Whether it be transfer rumours, both incoming and outgoing, updates on those that are out on loan, amongst other news.

The latest news to talk about regards Tottenham Hotspur wingers, the skipper Heung-Min Son, and on loan Yang Min-hyeok. On Monday it was confirmed that the skipper was named KSA player of the year for an eighth time, whilst Min-hyeok has been named the KSA young player of the year.

Tottenham Hotspur duo are recognised with international rewards

Though Son would be the first player to admit this has not been his best season, he has still racked up 11 goals and 12 assists in all competitions this season. His 16 big chances created in the Premier League this season can only be bettered by three players.

As mentioned above, this is his eighth time winning this award, which as you would imagine is a record. He previously did so in 2013, 2014, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. The award was introduced in 2010, so he has swept up the majority of them.

Furthermore, he has played consistently well for the national team. Despite some frustrating draws, they remain unbeaten in round 3 of 2026 World Cup qualifying, with 16 points from their eight games. Should they avoid defeat in their next game against Iraq in June, they will secure their 11th consecutive World Cup qualification - with Son preparing for his fourth different finals.

Meanwhile, young player of the year Min-hyeok could make his first finals, having made his South Korea debut during the recent international break, playing alongside Son for the first time, and almost certainly not the last.

On an individual level, it became a very good week for Min-hyeok, who scored his first goal in English football for QPR, despite a 3-1 defeat against Ashley Phillips and his Stoke City side. He will be hoping he has a good end to the season to be in the squad for South Korea's World Cup qualifiers that will take place in June.

Considering he does not turn 19 until later this month, there have been some very encouraging signs for Min-hyeok. This award should do his confidence the world of good too for the rest of the season. Well deserved awards for both players.
