Barcelona’s ambitions for silverware this season are being strongly supported by the exceptional form of Pedri.
The young midfielder has firmly positioned himself among Europe’s elite, and his recent performance against Celta Vigo was yet another reminder of why he deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as the current Ballon d’Or contenders.
At a time when Barcelona need leaders on the pitch, Pedri is stepping up with maturity, consistency, and class.
While other midfielders like Frenkie de Jong may draw attention, it was Pedri who stole the spotlight in the recent La Liga clash, as his ability to control the tempo, dictate play, and contribute defensively was vital during the narrow win.
Against Celta, Pedri completed 104 passes out of the 114 he attempted, showcasing his composure and intelligence on the ball. But his contribution went far beyond just keeping possession.

Pedri’s defensive work rate was nothing short of remarkable. He recovered the ball 17 times, setting a new individual record for the current La Liga season.
That effort brings his tally to 209 ball recoveries so far in the campaign, the highest by any outfield player in the competition.
What makes this stat even more impressive is that he is the only player in the league to have won back possession more than 15 times in multiple matches this season.
His impact extended across the pitch. Pedri won nine duels, made three successful tackles, registered a block, and forced three fouls from the opposition.
Now, as the season enters its most crucial stage, Pedri’s form is nothing short of a gift for Barcelona.
His performances are not just impressive, they are becoming essential. If the Catalan giants are serious about chasing the treble, the 22-year-old must remain at the heart of their efforts.
