After a disappointing Guard1anes 2020 campaign (to say the least), América fans will cling to any good news they can get at the moment.
And new information released by ‘StatisKicks’ may give the Azulcrema faithful something to hang their hats on.
While Richard Sánchez may be a defensive midfielder by trade, statistics show that he created 67 chances during the season.
That puts the Paraguay international third behind León captain Luis Montes (97) and Pablo Barrera of Atlético San Luis (69).
Like many of his Las Águilas team-mates, Sánchez came in for much criticism during a campaign that saw América exit the Liguilla at the quarter-final stage to Clásico Nacional rivals Chivas.
But these figures suggest that whoever replaces the recently sacked Miguel Herrera as manager of the Estadio Azteca outfit has a solid base to build his central midfield around ahead of the Guard1anes Clausura 2021.
