So the only show in town is the one regarding which clubs qualify for the Champions League.

Fair to say that the broadcasters will be desperate for this to go down to the very final matchday of the season, when the five teams (Forest, Man City, Newcastle United, Chelsea and Villa) are all in action across four matches.

However, before then, there are 17 games involving the Champions League hopefuls, spread across 10 different matchdays.

All of these 21 games involving the Premier League clubs currently placed third to seventh are listed in order below.

This though is how the Premier League table currently stands for the five teams:

61 points Man City (Played 34) Goal Difference +23

60 points Forest (Played 33) GD +14

59 points Newcastle United (Played 33) GD +18

57 points Chelsea (Played 33) GD +18

57 points Villa (Played 34) GD +5

My conclusions – Some things to note

If Chelsea fail to beat Everton on Saturday (lose or draw), then Newcastle United would be guaranteed to finish above them if winning their next three games (home to Ipswich, away at Brighton, home to Chelsea).

Given the goal difference advantage, if Newcastle get three wins and a draw they are guaranteed to finish above Aston Villa.

This is all in Newcastle United’s hands, starting with Ipswich on Saturday.
