RC Strasbourg Alsace manager Liam Rosenior has backed Paris Saint-Germain to go all the way and win the UEFA Champions League this season, during an interview with AFP.
PSG, despite a difficult start to their Champions League campaign, have hit their stride. Big wins over Manchester City and VfB Stuttgart booked their place in the play-offs before a 10-0 aggregate win over Stade Brestois booked them a tie against Liverpool in the Round of 16.
Having dominated over both legs, PSG squeezed through on penalties to set up a quarter-final against Aston Villa. Opta’s analysis has Les Parisiens as the second-favourites to win this season’s edition of the Champions League. However, Rosenior sees Luis Enrique’s side going all the way.
“For me, PSG are the favourites to win the Champions League. They are the best team in Europe at the minute,” he told AFP.
Last year, Les Parisiens reached the semi-finals of the competition before being knocked out by Borussia Dortmund. The prestigious European title is the “Holy Grail” in the eyes of the club’s QSI owners, who took over the club in 2011. The nearest PSG have got to lifting the Champions League was in 2020, when they were beaten by Bayern Munich in the final of a Covid-hit campaign.
