Antonee Robinson is having a season to remember at Fulham and added two assists to his ever-growing collection during the club’s defeat at West Ham this week.
The USA international has been a consistent presence in the final third for Fulham, with only Mohamed Salah and Bukayo Saka providing more assists in the Premier League this season. His form has seen the left-back attract admirers from top clubs and we’ve looked at where Robinson ranks across Europe’s top five leagues this season.
A collection of defenders sit joint-third in the standings. Wolves full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri has taken advantage of an advanced role this season with three goals and five assists in just 19 league appearances.
Oscar Mingueza, who is on Unai Emery’s wish list at Aston Villa for the January transfer window, also has five assists, as do Mainz defender Phillip Mwene and Werder Bremen’s Mitchell Weiser.
Achraf Hakimi’s inclusion on this list is little surprise with the Moroccan recognised as one of Europe’s best attacking outlets.
After a rather forgetful time in the Premier League, Nuno Tavares has been reborn on loan at Lazio this season.
The 24-year-old leads Serie A for assists, having recorded eight in just 14 league starts for the Italian side. Tavares leads all full-backs across Europe’s top five leagues for assists and successful take-ons per 90 minutes this season, while he’s in the top three percent for progressive carries.
Arsenal will be delighted to see his value soar on a third consecutive loan spell away from North London.
Antonee Robinson now has nine Premier League assists this season — four more than any other defender in the division.
Just two players – Mohamed Salah and Bukayo Saka – have recorded more assists than the 27-year-old across Europe’s top five leagues. Having long been a brilliant duelist one-against-one, Robinson’s improved attacking output has transformed him into one of the most rounded full-backs in English football.
He will now have his sights set on the Premier League’s single-season record for a defender. Liverpool’s Trent alexander-Arnold currently holds that record, having reached 13 assists during the 2019/20 season. That looks well within reach for Robinson on current form.
