The first part of the Derby di Milano ends 1-1, in the Coppa Italia 2024/25 semi-final first leg. All of the goals came in the second half, with the hosts taking the lead through Abraham. In the 67th minute, Calhanoglu equalised with a bullet from outside of the area. The Nerazzurri had a number of chances to score again but the result stayed the same. All will be decided in the second leg, on 23 April. Whistles, it's as if you can hear it. In the roar of San Siro, which suddenly falls silent. When you play the derby away from home, the cheering from the goals is reversed. If you score as the away team, the stadium falls silent, leaving space for the voices of your fans. Then, you listen to it, Hakan's shot. It was smashed into the net right beneath our fans. Then, he slides, on the San Siro pitch, with the most beautiful and liberating roar. Inter were behind in the derby, and a result was not a given, especially when considering how the match played out. Calhanoglu's stunning right-footed shot secured the equaliser in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final, a game in which Inter had 18 shots, seven of which were on target, many of which were stopped by Mike Maigan, the true star of the match. AC Milan hung on thanks to their goalkeeper's heroics, who continued to deny our attempts, including two late chances from Zalewski and Mkhitaryan.
Inzaghi's team made it clear that leaving the Meazza with a defeat was not an option, despite falling behind early after Abraham's goal. Following a first half filled with clean chances, and two great saves from Josep Martinez, Inter founded themselves behind but quickly fought back. Barella and his teammates gave their all to get back into the game, when Calhanoglu delivered with a thunderous strike past Maignan. The Frenchman denied an Inter win late on, which will have to wait until 23 April (21:00 CEST, tickets here).
