Both goalscorers against a decidedly untouchable Paris Saint-Germain, the AS Monaco striker and attacking midfielder stopped in the mixed zone to discuss the outcome of the match (2-4).
They did not deserve it, despite the score on the scoreboard. Behind at half-time against a sharp PSG, the Rouge et Blanc were able to turn the tide on their return to the pitch thanks to Eliesse Ben Seghir and Breel Embolo, before conceding twice in the final quarter of an hour (2-4). It was a cruel loss, that the two Monégasques analysed with the media. 🎙️
Good evening Breel. Do you think that Paris was really superior tonight?
I don’t think so personally. They are a very good team that has a lot of qualities, but I think that when we played our game in the second half, we hurt them. By playing counter-attacks, being more focused and taking more risks defensively, we were better. Unfortunately the equalizer at 2-2 came too quickly. Then the third came on a corner in the 83rd minute.
Not much honestly, even if we conceded four goals today, it is sure that it is difficult against teams of this level. What really hurts us, I repeat, is the goal to make it 2-2 which came too quickly for my taste, because we come back well in the second half, by being more provocative.
In summary, I think we respected them too much in the first half, before showing some good things after the break, where we could have even made it 3-3 or earned a penalty. But they are a team that punishes you quickly, that has a lot of individual quality. We knew they were moving the ball around very well, but I don’t think there was a big gap tonight.
Has PSG finally left the rest behind?
There are plenty of matches to go, but it’s sure that for all the teams in France who are fighting behind them, it’s going to be difficult. They’re a great team with a very good squad and a lot of international players.
We’re going to try to finish as high as possible. In any case, we’re going to have to analyze this first part of the season, recover well and come back to try to string together results like we were able to do at the start of the season.
What is missing today for this AS Monaco?

We are a young team with high ambitions. I also remind you that we have 10 points in the Champions League, which proves that we also know how to win! And then we are still missing some players today, even if I think we did not turn in a bad performance.
Breel EmboloOn the team's play in big matches
It reminded me a bit of the loss to Benfica. Despite everything, we continued to move forward to snatch a draw, and in the end it came down to very little. These are things that we have to analyse in order to learn, and come back stronger for the reverse fixture.
What can we learn from the last defeats in big matches?

Eliesse Ben SeghirOn the outcome of the match
We have a very good team, and even if today we lost and it hurts, we will analyze all that to come back stronger by being perhaps more intelligent in key moments. We keep moving, we learn, once again we have a lot of young players who are having a very good season, so we have to grow as a team. But I am not worried, we are a great team with a good state of mind, we are working hard and everyone is giving 100%.

There were some good things but the hardest part is to be consistent throughout the match. We will try to work on that and be even better by continuing to gain experience.
We tried to do the best we could, especially since we had studied them. We wanted to focus on their weaknesses, that’s why we played deep. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t unfortunately.”
