Following on from their 3-1 win over Club Brugge in the Champions League Manchester City take on Arsenal on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium. It is another crucial Premier League fixture for both teams. Arsenal will be desperate to pick up three points to stay in touch with Premier League leaders Liverpool. Pep Guardiola’s side knows that a win will further solidify their place in the top four. A huge game awaits both teams on Sunday.

Manchester City had several players unavailable for their win over Club Brugge due to injury. Rodri, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake and Jeremy Doku all missed the game at the Etihad. The same four players will again miss the Arsenal game. Pep Guardiola was asked during his pre-game press conference if there was any chance of any of those four players being available this weekend. He told the media when asked about their status: “No, we continue the same.

There is, however, good news for Manchester City, with Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis all being available for selection for Sunday’s match. The trio were all ineligible for City’s win over Club Brugge. You do get the sense that Marmoush may have a key role to play at the Emirates on Sunday. The Egyptian international played well against Chelsea and his pace, movement and technical ability could be key to unlocking Arsenal’s stubborn defence. It remains to be seen if Marmoush will start the match, but based on what he showed at the Etihad last weekend, you would assume that he’d start against Mikel Arteta’s side.

There is no return date from injury for Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake and Jeremy Doku. But the hope is that they can return sooner rather than later. With a busy schedule coming up Pep Guardiola’s side will need every player available as they face a gruelling set of of fixtures in February.
