On Thursday, Kilmarnock went into the second leg of their Europa League qualifying tie 2-1 up against Connah’s Quay Nomads.
A glamour tie with Partizan Belgrade awaited Killie in the next round, and all they had to do was finish the job at home and they could start packing their bags for Serbia.
But things didn’t go to plan, and they ended up being unceremoniously dumped out by their Welsh Premier League opponents …
This video filmed by one particularly exasperated fan from the stands summed up the mood inside Rugby Park …
Heartbreaking stuff but in time, they might just be able to see the funny side.
Speaking after the game, Killie captain Gary Dicker admitted it was probably the worst result in the Scottish Premiership club’s history.
“There’s nothing else you can say about that, it’s just not good enough. It’s embarrassing for the club,” said Dicker.
“The fans have waited that long to get here and we dish up that. I’m gutted for them more than anyone, they’ve been through enough over the years, we worked that hard and then to dish that up, it’s embarrassing, a disgrace, whatever you want to call it.”
But Nomads boss Andy Morrison (of Manchester City fame) enjoyed his trip to Scotland very much.
Scottish football eh?
