On Match of The Day – Gary Lineker, Martin Keown and Micah Richards talking after Newcastle 3 Liverpool 3:
“Well, what a game that was.
“A real classic under the floodlights, a real midweek special.
“Made really by Newcastle’s approach.”
“Absolutely.
“You know, Liverpool have been running away with things so far this season, but they [Newcastle] went toe to toe with Liverpool.
“Mentality of the team, the workrate, exceptional.
“The atmosphere there was incredible.
“They really set about their opponent, getting bodies forward at every opportunity, look at those bodies flying forward.
“Liverpool were on the back foot, certainly for large periods of that first half.
“Pressing high, everybody doing their jobs, not letting Liverpool settle or try to dictate, as they have done so far. Really getting after Liverpool.
“This guy here Bruno, the way he looks and then sidesteps [his opponent], lovely little ball into Isak and then is there a finer sight in football, when you see him in a one v one situation. Van Dijk, as good as he is, cannot get near him.
“Absolute thunderbolt from Isak [for the opening goal.”
Micah Richards:
“Wow.
“Amazing.”
Martin Keown:
“But Mo Salah is on the pitch and brought Liverpool back into it.
Micah Richards:
“We keep talking about him, he is unbelievable.”
Martin Keown:
“The angle from Schar, that is an unbelievable finish [to make it 3-3].”
