Kicker reports that there has been a turnaround in the future of Karlsruhe midfielder Tim Breithaupt. The 21-year-old’s move to Augsburg is now back on and in the advanced stages.
Karlsruhe are set to receive €2.5m for Breithaupt after having initially demanded closer to €4m. Breithaupt will sign a contract at Augsburg until 2028, becoming their fourth signing of the summer.
Augsburg have already completed the signings of Finn Dahmen (Mainz) and Patric Pfeiffer (Darmstadt) on free transfers as well as signing Sven Michel from Union Berlin for €950k.
The aim for Breithaupt is that he will complement the midfield with Niklas Dorsch, Elvis Rexhbecaj, Arne Engels and Renato Veiga. In the winter, Augsburg had tried to sign Breithaupt to replace the departing Carlos Gruezo who joined San Jose Earthquakes in the MLS.
The 21-year-old has not played for Karlsruhe for the majority of the second half of the season as he suffered an ankle fracture during training which has kept him out since.
