Gianluca Di Marzio is not anticipating Inter Milan will do much during the upcoming January transfer window.
Di Marzio gave his predictions for the Nerazzurri’s transfer plans for next month on Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908.
Next month, Inter will have the opportunity to potentially reinforce their squad.
Alternatively, there could be an opportunity for the Nerazzurri to offload some fringe players from their squad.
Inter have actually been fairly active in recent January windows.
Among the most notable midseason arrivals at the Nerazzurri over the last few years have been Christian Eriksen, Robin Gosens, and Tajon Buchanan.
However, with that being said, the January transfer window is not easy to navigate.
For major business, it is usually far easier to take advantage of the summer. Then, there are more opportunities, more breathing room, and more time to do real squad planning.
Inter only have a few more days in which to plan out the next few weeks.
If there is to be any business, it would likely be in defense according to reports.
There, the Nerazzurri have a bit of an injury crisis recently with Benjamin Pavard and Francesco Acerbi out and Stefan de Vrij and Matteo Darmian also having some fitness problems in the last couple weeks.
However, Sky transfer market expert Di Marzio is expecting a quite January from Inter.
“In theory,” he said, “Inter won’t do anything during the window.”
“They’re already covered in every position,” Di Marzio noted.
“Indeed, when we asked about the possible departure of Arnautovic, who’s a very sought-after centre-forward, we were told that he wouldn’t be replaced if he leaves,” Di Marzio said.
“Considering that they already have Correa, and he’s doing well.”
“But Inzaghi has made clear that he wants to keep [Arnautovic],” Di Marzio added. “So that’s all the more reason to think they won’t do anything.”
