As reported earlier today, Real Madrid are now inching closer to their first signing of the summer, with a deal to secure the services of Trent Alexander-Arnold in its final stages.

The 26-year-old right-back will join the Merengues on a free transfer in the summer as his contract at Liverpool expires on June 30, 2025.

Several reliable sources, including Fabrizio Romano, have confirmed that the operation is set to be closed imminently.

More details about the deal

Now, Romano has come out with a detailed update on the imminent signing of Alexander-Arnold at Real Madrid.

As per the Italian transfer expert, Los Blancos have sent their official contract proposal to the England international this week. His representatives will now go through the details before finalising the deal. As such, the ‘here we go’ is expected to come soon.

Real Madrid considered Alexander-Arnold to be the perfect player in terms of age and wages and went about their pursuit of the Liverpool ace aggressively.

Romano, without divulging details of the contract offer, reports that Alexander-Arnold is not going to earn a ‘crazy’ salary at Real Madrid.

He will not have wages at the level of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr, with the Englishman being accepting of the club’s salary scale.

As soon as Alexander-Arnold agrees a deal with Real Madrid, the Merengues will inform Liverpool that it has happened as part of the gentleman’s agreement between the clubs.

Interestingly, Romano also confirms that Real Madrid approached Liverpool in December to explore the possibility of signing the right-back in the winter window but were met with a firm ‘no’ from the Premier League giants.

Now, though, unless something ‘crazy’ happens, Alexander-Arnold is not expected to continue at Anfield and it is only a matter of time before he signs for Real Madrid.
