Two sources immediately dismiss big Chelsea transfer news from Sunday night

It looks like Chelsea have worked fast to shut down one big transfer rumour regarding the club that came out as breaking news on Sunday night.

All had been pretty quiet around Chelsea over Christmas, other than our Boxing Day defeat to Fulham. But on the transfer front things have been quiet as we are now just days away from another transfer window opening up.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea looking at 5/6 positions to sign new players in!

And then something dramatic popped off on Sunday night, with Chelsea being linked with PSG striker Kolo Muani.

Santi Aouna of Footmercato is reported that Chelsea have made contact with PSG over a potential move for Muani next month.

His report says that a lack of playing time in Paris could mean the France international wants a move, and Chelsea could offer him that escape.

Two other sources claim this is fake news

Muani in action for PSG

Two Chelsea sources who have clearly been straight on to the blower with the club, Ben Jacobs and Bobby Vincent of Football London, have moved to try and shut this rumour down.

Vincent says:

‘Despite reports in France linking Chelsea with Randal Kolo Muani, understand the Blues are not expected to make a move for him next month. Club are obviously aware of player + his situation but no move expected. Told not to expect too much activity on incoming front.’

And Jacobs says pretty much the same thing:

‘Understand Randal Kolo Muani is not in Chelsea’s plans. Natural respect for the player, but no approach expected in January. Chelsea have several names on their list of possible striker options for 2025, but nothing imminent, and big confidence in Nicolas Jackson.’

So the news is probably untrue, unless this is just Chelsea trying to keep a handle on it so that they can operate in silence. But I’d suspect it’s nothing more than just agent talk.
