Jaka Bijol is one of the top targets to bolster the Inter defense, and the Nerazzurri might try to sign him in January already if Francesco Acerbi doesn’t stay healthy. On the other hand, Udinese are in no rush to sell their star. Director Gianluca Nani stated that there was nothing advanced concerning the future of the Slovenian international. He talked to TV12 (via Mediaset).
“I would have been very surprised if a player like him wasn’t coveted by Inter. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll go there. Bijol is very strong, and we know that they like him. On the other hand, there’s no ongoing negotiation at this stage. Moreover, he’s aware that if he wants to join a big team he has to do well here.”
In addition to Inter, Bijol has been linked also to Napoli, which have started searching for a defender since Antonio Conte doesn’t trust Rafa Marin yet and Juan Jesus is expendable, Calciomercato reported.
The 25-year-old moved to Serie A from CSKA Moscow for €4M in 2022. He has amassed 69 appearances over the years, scoring 3 goals. He has 59 caps with Slovenia and starred for Rudar Velenje and Hannover 96 earlier in his career.
Since he’ll cost a fairly big buck, he’s more of a summer target than a January one. The Nerazzurri can easily handle the entire season with the defender they already have. He’s become a specialist of the three-man line in Italy, the central role in particular. While he can always adapt, he’s a better fit for the sides that use it.
