Udinese defender Oumar Solet impressed against Inter Milan in yesterday’s Serie A clash, further fuelling transfer speculation.

In the buildup to yesterday’s Serie A match between Inter Milan and Udinese, some transfer speculation emerged.

This concerned reported interest by the Nerazzurri in signing defender Oumar Solet.

Solet only just joined Udinese in January. However, the Frenchman has not taken long at all to start impressing in Serie A.

Inter Milan reportedly see Solet as one of their major targets in defense next summer.

The Nerazzurri will certainly be aiming to refresh an aging defense with at least one younger signing. And Solet could be the player who checks their boxes.

The 25-year-old was playing under the watchful eye of Inter’s club directors yesterday.

And the Inter hierarchy will undoubtedly have been impressed with what they saw.

There was one early error from Solet that was notable.

The former Red Bull Salzburg needed to do better in the buildup to Inter’s goal. He committed himself too quickly to a challenge on Inter striker Marcus Thuram high up the pitch.

This allowed Thuram to breeze past Oumar Solet and initiate a counterattack. And it left Solet stranded up the pitch trying to recover.

However, after that, Solet hardly put a foot wrong.

The Frenchman showed his assured penalty area defending, particularly in the second half.

And Solet also demonstrated how he can defend proactively and put his team on the front foot. That is a vital attribute at a team like Inter.

The 25-year-old crowned his performance with a stunning solo goal out of nothing. That set up a dramatic finale to the match.
