Udinese star Sandi Lovrić recently sat down to speak with The Italian Football Podcast, and provided his take on a whole host of noteworthy topics.
The 25-year-old is currently in the midst of his 2nd season in Udine, after arriving from Swiss outfit Lugano in the summer of 2022.
All told, Lovrić has featured in all but two of Udinese’s Serie A fixtures thus far this term, whilst also continuing to act as a key contributor for Slovenia on the international stage.
Long praised for his abilities on the ball, the midfielder was therefore drawn on the possibility of making another step up in his career, by sealing a move to the Premier League down the line.
And Lovrić was not shy in hiding his desire to achieve as much, confirming that he ‘hopes’ to one day line out for an English club:
“Me playing in the Premier League? Of course, I think the Premier League is an aim for all players for sure. It is the best league in the world, everybody knows you have to very good to be there and work very hard to get there.
“I am 25 years old now, but I hope that one day I can join a club in the Premier League for sure.”
One former teammate of Lovrić’s who has of course already made the move to England comes in the form of Destiny Udogie.
Left-back Udogie sealed his long-awaited Tottenham Hotspur switch this past summer, and has not looked back, enjoying a superb start to life in London.
And Lovrić, for one, is not at all surprised, having long been aware that the young defender was destined for the very top:
“Udogie? Udo has a crazy, crazy quality [smiles]. We already saw here in Udine, when you can train with players like this every day you can see the quality, the technique, the strength, the power that he has.
“I’m really happy for him that he is showing this in the Premier League. Of course, I am watching the games, Tottenham have until now had an incredible season and are playing incredible football.
“But you saw also already here at Udine immediately that he is on another level.”
Turning attentions back towards Serie A, the Zebrette star was then asked for his pick to lift the Scudetto this season.
The race for the title in Italy’s top-flight currently looks like something of a two-horse race, with table-topping Inter Milan leading arch rivals Juventus by two points ahead of next weekend’s highly-anticipated Derby d’Italia.
And Lovrić feels that it is the Nerazzurri who just boast the edge, albeit with a favourite still ‘very difficult’ to call:
“Who will win Serie A? Good question, very difficult to say but I think Inter are the favorites in this moment.”
