Valencia captain José Gayà is closing in on a return to action having been on the sidelines since May after becoming injured during a tie against Girona at the end of last season.
The left-back came on in the second half of the match, but could only play 11 minutes before having to come off with his hamstring injury.
The long road to recovery has taken five months and has involved travel to Finland to get treatment from a specialist and have surgery.
Valencia have now posted on their social media that the 29-year-old has been cleared to return and could even be part of the squad as soon as this weekend’s match against Las Palmas.
This is a big boost for Valencia, as the return of their captain will provide a massive presence both on and off the pitch, and provide a level of leadership they may have been lacking in recent months.
From tomorrow, Gayà will return to training with the squad and may be used as quickly as this weekend, or will perhaps be given a bit longer to get back up to speed.
