Venezia head coach Eusebio Di Francesco admitted that his side have to be wary about AC Milan, who could be riding a post-derby wave.
Milan made it through to the final of the Coppa Italia on Wednesday night by beating their rivals Inter 3-0 at San Siro. It was a near perfect second leg display – with goals from Luka Jovic and Tijjani Reijnders – to secure a 4-1 aggregate win.
In the league though all of the Rossoneri’s inconsistencies have been shown, which is why they sit down in ninth place with the Champions League spots now a distant mirage. There is an obligation to finish as strongly as possible though, with valuable points still up for grabs.
Venezia meanwhile are in the midst of a relegation battle, so the points might be even more vital for them on Sunday in the early kick-off. Their manager Di Francesco spoke at his pre-match press conference, and MilanPress relayed his comments.
On Milan…
“They have alternated moments of great performances with others, I hope that can happen, but I am absolutely convinced that they will try to give continuity to the derby, knowing the coach.
“We must rely on ourselves, on our attitude and determination, knowing that we will face a big team. On an attacking level, they are the most dangerous team, according to the data. They have great offensive potential.”
Any injury updates?
“Ellertsson and Marcandalli had some problems, but we hope to be able to get them back. Fila is back from suspension, Yeboah has trained continuously. We arrive at the match with a psychophysical condition adequate for the match.”
Any doubts about the line-up?
“A couple, I can’t tell you where. I’m calm when I have them. I see great desire from everyone to try to get an important result.”
