Victor Boniface was absent from Bayer Leverkusen’s training today as a proposed move to Saudi Arabia moves closer, reports kicker.

In recent days, Boniface has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, more specifically Al Nassr as a replacement for Anderson Talisca who moved to Fenerbahce. It is said that Leverkusen and the Saudi Public Investment Fund-backed side are in negotiations over a transfer.

At his pre-match press conference ahead of Leverkusen’s Champions League tie against Sparta Prague, head coach Xabi Alonso confirmed negotiations were ongoing:

“This situation exists. There are discussions with the club, we have to wait. Our preparation for the game remains the same. We have to wait with Boni.”

The previously quoted price for Boniface was said to be €50m, but it is suggested by kicker that Leverkusen could receive a lot more than that for the Nigerian as they look for a potential replacement with six days left of the transfer window.

There will be two incoming transfers in this window with Mario Hermoso and Emiliano Buendia both expected to arrive on loan to boost Leverkusen’s numbers in defence and attack.
