It’s half time in Chelsea’s game against Morecambe, and the Blues are 1-0 up at Stamford Bridge.
To be fair to this rotated team, they’ve not taken it lightly. They’ve really been very professional in their approach, and they’ve needed to be. Morecambe have given a great account of themselves, and there’s certainly been no space to mess around for the home team.
The one moment they did switch off cost them. Chelsea had a corner which came out to Tosin Adarabioyo, who had tons of space. He took a tentative touch forward, then another, and nobody came to engage him. He was then in position to take a shot, which he did, and it flew in via a wicked deflection which wrong footed the keeper.
You can see the goal in the clips embedded here:

Tosin celebrates in a Chelsea group huddle after a goal in the FA Cup.
Enzo Maresca’s team will want to add another goal or two as soon as possible, and then they can take Romeo Lavia and Reece James, the pair who have just returned from injury, off. Youngsters like Tyrique George will also be desperate to take the chance to impress further in another 45 minutes against tiring lower league opposition.
Given we only have a 1 goal advantage and given the threat that Morecambe pose (which is more than you might have expected from a team as low in the leagues as they are) we can’t consider this game won until we’ve got a second goal at least.
Maresca will want to see this good attitude continued until full time, no matter who is on the pitch at full time.
