When he was manager at Olympique de Marseille, Jorge Sampaoli ousted Steve Mandanda (39), OM’s No.1 at the time. Now re-united at Stade Rennais, Sampaoli is looking to do the same thing once again, according to RMC Sport.

Reports always suggested that the pair never got on well and things have not changed. As a result, Sampaoli is looking to make a change between the sticks, getting rid of veteran goalkeeper Mandanda as soon as the January transfer window. There is a familiar name that features on the shortlist, former OGC Nice shot-stopper Walter Benítez (31).

The Argentinian is currently contracted to PSV Eindhoven, and this could make the move difficult as Benítez is currently competing in the UEFA Champions League and is considered a key member of the squad. Bar Benítez, the other names on Rennes’ short-list, which is being drawn up ahead of the opening of the transfer window in less than a month’s time, have not been revealed.
