Real Madrid have had a very difficult season as far as injuries are concerned. The line most affected has been the defense, but they also lost in the midfield the player who was claiming to be the new Toni Kroos. The Whites have had to issue more than 54 injury reports this season and now that they seemed to be about to see the light, the issue could get complicated.
The fact is that two of the occupants of the infirmary are Dani Ceballos and Ferland Mendy. Real Madrid’s aim was for both to be available for the first leg against Arsenal, but everything indicates that their return may be delayed.
According to Jorge Picón, a journalist from Relevo, there have been slight complications in their respective recovery processes. As of today, April 4th, both Ceballos and Mendy have a hard time making it to the Emirates Stadium on April 8th, next Tuesday.
Picón assures that they will be ready for the return leg at the Bernabéu, which will be played on April 16th. A match in which the tie is most likely to be decided, so having all the artillery available will be key for Carlo Ancelotti.
Ceballos was injured in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Sociedad at the end of February. The Utrera-born player suffered a semi-membranosus muscle injury affecting the tendon in his left leg, an injury that has left him out of action for two months, although luckily for him and the team, it was a less serious injury than initially expected.
In the Champions League match against Atlético at the Metropolitano stadium, Mendy was unable to finish the game due to injury. The Frenchman, number 23, started the game, but with ten minutes of regulation time remaining, the full-back made a back pass, took three steps, raised his hand and immediately threw himself to the ground. The full-back had suffered an injury to the semimembranosus muscle in his left leg.
