West Ham are determined to sign a striker in the January transfer window as the club look to combat the absences of Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen.
Julen Lopetegui’s side are light in the final third with Antonio and Bowen facing spells out. The former is recovering a a road traffic accident that saw the 34-year-old require surgery for a fractured lower limb, while Bowen fractured his foot in the defeat to Liverpool last month.
West Ham signed Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund last summer but the German has had a slow start at the London Stadium. The 31-year-old has made just three starts, having missed much of the campaign with an Achilles issue.
Despite investing around £132.5m on new signings in the summer, the Hammers are ready to re-enter the market this month. According to The Telegraph, West Ham have a three-player shortlist to reinforce their forward line.
Evan Ferguson is a top target, amid suggestions the 20-year-old could leave Brighton. Ferguson has failed to reclaim his place in the Brighton side after injury and is exploring his options. Several sides in the Premier League, including Fulham, Brentford and Southampton, are monitoring his situation. The Republic of Ireland international is most likely to leave on loan if he departs the AMEX Stadium.
Hwang Hee-chan, who Lopetegui worked alongside at former club Wolves, is another target. The South Korean scored 12 goals in the Premier League last season but has struggled for minutes in 2024/25. Middlesbrough’s Emmanuel Latte Lath completes the shortlist. He has scored 26 goals in 55 league appearances for the Championship side since his arrival from Atalanta 18 months ago.
