West Ham United could be looking to sign a new striker in the January transfer window.
According to the Sunday Mirror (page 65), the Hammers are showing keen interest in signing Middlesbrough striker Emmanuel Latte Lath.
West Ham have been keeping close eye on the player, but they could face competition from Premier League rivals Southampton and Leicester City.
The 25-year-old striker has scored seven goals for Boro this term and equalled Brian Clough’s club record of scoring in seven successive games.
The Hammers were rocked by the news on Saturday after striker Michail Antonio was involved in a serious car accident.
The 34-year-old striker is in a stable condition and ‘conscious and communicating’. He is being kept under close supervision at a central London hospital.
It is unknown when Antonio can return to the side, but the Hammers will need to give him enough time to recover.
He has been a terrific servant for the club over the years and single-handedly carried the onerous burden of scoring.
West Ham signed German striker Niclas Fullkrug in the summer transfer window on a big-money deal, but he has proved to be a major flop.
The Hammers were keen to sign Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran in the summer, but the deal didn’t materialise.
They moved for the former Borussia Dortmund striker instead, and he has struggled for form and fitness since moving to the Premier League.
Danny Ings remains another option, but he has failed to make any kind of impact since joining the Hammers from Villa in January 2023.
