Marco Asensio (29) only signed in January, however, Aston Villa are keen to keep the Spain international. However, according to Marca, the Premier League side already fear losing him at the end of the season.

Asensio has hit the ground running at Villa Park, netting five goals in his first seven games for the club. However, when he was signed on loan from Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the season, no purchase option was included in the deal. That could cause a problem.

As per Marca, Aston Villa already fear that negotiations with PSG regarding a permanent deal may be difficult. The player will be entering the final year of his contract come the end of this season, however, Aston Villa believe that Les Parisiens will look to exploit the forward’s recent resurgence. With multiple offers expected, PSG are looking to garner a considerable sum from the eventual bidding war. Aston Villa also fear that Asensio could potentially be used as a makeweight in a deal to sign a big-name player, such as Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.
