Why Bertrand missing from Leicester preseason

Ryan Bertrand has missed Leicester City's preseason due to surgery.

Bertrand has not played any part in preseason after undergoing another operation on his knee.

The full-back has been out of action with a knee injury since pulling out of the City squad after the warm up for the Boxing Day clash against Manchester City at the end of last year. Bertrand joined the club on a free transfer the previous summer, signing a two year contract at the King Power Stadium .

After having a decent pre-season last term, Bertrand missed the first game after testing positive for Covid-19. Upon his return, he failed to replicate the form shown in friendlies, making just 11 appearances in all competitions before sustaining the knee injury that would put an end to his season, says the Leicester Mercury.
