Davide Calabria remains at risk of suspension as part of an investigation into Serie A clubs, staff and players and their relationships with club ultras that has already seen Hakan Calhanoglu and Simone Inzaghi handed one-match bans, but the former Milan right-back could be given a harsher punishment, reports suggest.

On Thursday, it was confirmed that Calhanoglu and Inzaghi have been given one-match suspensions and €30,000 and €15,000 fines respectively as a result of their conversations with ultras, which went against FIGC rules.

The clubs Inter and Milan have also been given fines, as has Inter vice-President Javier Zanetti and the two supporter liaison officers employed by the Nerazzurri and Rossoneri.

The bans and fines given to Calhanoglu and Inzaghi came as a result of a plea bargain, which means that neither will stand trial.

The same is not true for Calabria, who, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, has decided not to negotiate a plea deal.

Instead, he will be heard by FIGC Prosecutor Giuseppe Chine in the coming days. Without a plea bargain, Calabria runs the risk of having to stand trial in the federal courts.

If Calabria’s case is taken to trial and if he is eventually found guilty, then he will likely be sanctioned with a stronger punishment than the one-match bans given to Calhanoglu Inzaghi with their plea bargains.
