VAR continues to be a subject which divides opinion among football fans, pundits, players and managers alike.

On the one hand, you have those who believe that VAR has brought a greater level of fairness and transparency to the game.

While those in the other camp often espouse the opinion that the technology and an obsession with every call being correct has sucked a lot of the fun and emotion out of football (while still being responsible for plenty of wrong calls).

It's perhaps important to remember that there were lots of shocking miscarriages of justice in the pre-VAR era, such as this goal scored by Schalke' 04's Joƫl Matip back in 2013.

You don't need to draw lines to see that was clearly offside, and the referee's assistant really should have gone to Specsavers.
