Willem II have announced the signing of Kyan Vaesen on loan from Westerlo for the 2024/2025 Eredivisie season. The recently promoted side have agreed a one-year deal with Westerlo but have not included a purchase option on the 23-year-old. Vaesen joins up with Peter Maes, a manager who has extensive experience of coaching in Belgium. Willem II won the Dutch second tier last season.
Vaesen decided that, given the striker backlog at Westerlo, he needed to leave in order to secure first team football. The striker only managed one goal and one assist during the 2023/2024 season for the side. Prior to that, he had scored six goals in 34 games during the sides first season back in the top flight. His deal with Westerlo runs until 2026 but it is now unclear whether he still has a future with the Belgian side. He has so far played 89 games for the side, scoring 15 goals.
