Wolves’ goalscoring hero Jorgen Strand Larsen says his winner against Ipswich was his best goal for the club yet because of its importance.
Strand Larsen’s winner after Pablo Sarabia’s equaliser means Wolves moved 12 points ahead of 18th placed Ipswich, edging a step closer to securing their Premier League safety in doing so.
Liam Delap had given the Tractor Boys an early lead, with victory for Ipswich meaning the gap between the two sides would have been narrowed to six points, but Strand Larsen was delighted with the comeback as it instead stretched to 12.
Asked for his thoughts on the game, he told the BBC: “Lot of thoughts in my head. Good thoughts, amazing comeback.
“We looked like two different teams today and it’s nice to see we can come back after a pretty bad first half.
“I’ve scored many goals already and many important ones but this is the best one. Not the prettiest one, probably the ugliest, I was onside just but a massive goal at the end of the game.
“I’ve had a few tough months, been injured, a few tough moments not scoring goals. That’s the way it is, your form goes up and down especially where we have been this season. I haven’t changed a thing, just be myself, keep positive and smiling all the time.”
Strand Larsen has been playing while recovering from a fractured hand but he says he was not thinking about that while he was celebrating his crucial winner.
“I couldn’t care less about that,” he joked. “The doctor will say you have to be careful! We went nuts and celebrating with the fans, amazing.
On whether Wolves are safe yet, he added: “No not really. We still have to be in every game because you see how strong Ipswich were today.
“This league is brutal and you never know what will happen. We have a few tough games to play but we’re not afraid of anyone so hopefully we can take three points in next game too.”
