There is a full batch of qualifiers for the Women’s 2025 European Championships tonight.
Here is the best of them.
Scorers: Costa (pen) 25′, Alves 49′, 96′, Amado 83′
Portugal put themselves in a very strong position to both advance to the play-offs and move into League A with a dominant 4-0 win over Northern Ireland.
They opened the scoring in the 25th minute from the spot, Carol Costa making no mistake from 12 yards.
Shortly after the break, it was 2-0 and what a goal it was from Lúcia Alves. The Benfica star controlled a long ball before clipping the ball over the head of Northern Ireland keeper Jackie Burns.
Catarina Amado got in on the act with a well-timed run and finish in the 83rd minute before Alves rounded things off with her second.
Scorers: Mead 30′, de Almedia 41′, Katoto 68′
France came from behind to beat England 2-1 at St. James’ Park in a result that suddenly puts the Lionesses’ qualification hopes under threat.
The home side survived the injury and substitution of Mary Earps to take the lead on the half-hour mark through Beth Mead, who finished well after great work from Leah Williamson and Lauren Hemp.
Their lead lasted only 11 minutes with the French deservedly equalising before the break through Elisa De Almeida, who volleyed home spectacularly after a corner came to her on the edge of the box.
In a high-quality game, both sides had chances but it was France who crucially got the decisive third goal. It again came from a corner, this time England failing to deal with it, allowing Marie-Antoinette Katoto to fire home.
The two sides will meet again in Saint-Étienne on Tuesday in a massive game for Sarina Weigman’s side.
Scorers: Emslie 17′, 36′, Hanson 30′, Thomas (pen) 63′; Sommer 85′
Scotland remain undefeated in their qualification campaign after a dominant 4-1 victory over Israel at Hampden Park.
They were three up by half-time with a brace from Claire Emslie coming either side of a Kirsty Hanson strike.
It was 4-0 just after the hour via a Martha Thomas penalty and Talia Sommer’s late strike was little more than a consolation.
Scorers: Barton (pen) 64′; Andrukhiv 3′
Wales were held to a 1-1 draw at home by a resolute and impressive Ukraine side.
The away side took the lead after just three minutes when Rhiannon Roberts’ error allowed Veronika Andrukhiv to tap into an empty net.
Wales eventually got the equaliser their play deserved over an hour later, Kayleigh Barton smashing home a great penalty.
The two teams will meet again on Tuesday in Poland.
Scorers: Zieniewicz (OG) 34′, Schüller 77′, Gwinn 84′, (pen) 88′; Padilla 1′
Germany overcame a very early deficit to run out convincing 4-1 winners against Poland in Rostock.
The Poles stunned the stadium with a goal inside the first minute from Natalia Padilla. They held their lead until just after the half-hour when Wiktoria Zieniewicz turned into her own net.
The hosts had countless opportunities to score but it was only until the last 15 minutes when they wrapped things up with goals from Lea Schüller and Giuilia Gwinn (2).
Scorers: Kaneryd 26′, 85′, Rolfo 62′
Ireland’s hopes of qualification are fading fast after a 3-0 loss in Dublin to a very strong Swedish side.
The star of the show was Chelsea’s Johanna Kaneryd, who grabbed a pair of goals and generally caused havoc throughout.
She also played a role in her side’s other goal, which eventually saw Fridolina Rolfo finish confidently.
Scorers: Beerensteyn 65′
The Netherlands squeezed past Finland with a second-half goal from Lineth Beerensteyn moving them to the top of Group A1.
After missing numerous chances in the opening hour, the Juventus forward struck what might be a decisive goal when all is said and done.
Scorers: Hermoso 17′, Caldentey (pen) 28′
World champions Spain made light work of Denmark, defeating them -0 in Viborg to move three points clear at the top of Group A2.
Jenni Hermoso broke the deadlock in the 17th minute, finishing well after being found by Alexia Putellas.
Mariona Caldentey made it two from the penalty spot just 11 minutes later to seal the points before the half-hour mark.
Irene Parades’ side will be looking to keep up their 100% record when the sides meet again in four days time.
Norway and Italy played out a goalless but entertaining draw in Oslo that leaves both teams on four points from their first three games in Group A1.
Both sides had plenty of openings but neither could find the winner and a point each was a fair result.
The two will meet again in four days’ time in Ferrara.
