There were several Real Madrid players on the pitch as France and Croatia faced off in the second leg of the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals.

The first leg of this tie had ended 2-0 in Croatia’s favour, with Luka Modric contributing a lot to his national side’s win.

However, the second leg saw France emerge as the winners at the end of regulation time with a 2-0 scoreline. As the tie was tied at 2-2, the two teams first went into extra time, which remained goalless, and then into a penalty shootout, which the Blues won 5-4.

As was the case in the first leg, Kylian Mbappe, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Eduardo Camavinga all featured for France in this game, while Modric was donning the Croatian jersey.

Among these four players, the midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni had the most memorable night, as he contributed a lot to help his team get a crucial win and make its way into the semi-finals of the competition, where they are set to face Spain.

The 25-year-old Real Madrid midfielder remained on the pitch for the entire 120 minutes and also took the second penalty for his team in the shootout, which he successfully put into the back of the net despite Livakovic diving in the right direction.

Tchouameni really made it difficult for Luka Modric and his Croatian colleagues to get control of the midfield, as the Frenchman was the most proactive player in the middle of the pitch.

Sofascore statistics show that he won a total of 15 duels in the game, the highest of any player in this game. In total, he was engaged in 10 ground duels, of which he won 8, and 9 aerial duels, of which he won 7. Furthermore, he also made 2 clearances, 3 interceptions, and 4 tackles in this game.

The midfielder was also quite good with the ball, as he attempted 102 passes, of which 91 were accurate, thus recording a passing success rate of 89%. Furthermore, he also attempted 7 long balls, of which 4 were accurate. Tchouameni also took four shots in this game, but all of them were off-target.

His Real Madrid teammate in the French attack, Kylian Mbappe, was also quite lively. He took 3 shots on target but was still unable to get on the scoresheet, while another 5 of his shots went off-target. He also took the first penalty in the shootout but missed 2 big chances before that. On the other hand, he won 8 of the 19 ground duels he was engaged in and put in 1 key pass.

Eduardo Camavinga came on in extra time and played only 15 minutes in this game. He made on 14 touches in this time and completed all of his 11 attempted passes. However, he was excellent in chance creation as he put in 3 key passes in only these 15 minutes and also created 1 big chance.

Luka Modric had a night to forget, as he was one of the poorest players for his side in this game, a far cry from the player who had been so influential in the first leg.

Tchouameni, Mbappe, and Camavinga will now face Spain in the semi-finals, where they might face another of their Real Madrid teammates, Raul Asencio, who was called up for the senior Spain side for the first time in his career in this international break.
