The Lions came away with an emphatic 3-0 win. Marco Asensio didn’t get on the scoresheet, but the team followed it up with a solid 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest over the weekend.

Still, despite his contributions, there’s growing uncertainty over whether the club will keep Asensio long-term. Nonetheless, the Premier League side face competition from a La Liga side.

Fichajes reports, citing sources, that Atlético de Madrid is already preparing for next season. One of their main priorities is finding a reliable replacement for Antoine Griezmann. The French forward appears to be on the way out of the Metropolitano with MLS being a potential landing spot.

The name gaining the most traction internally is Asensio. The Spanish international, currently on loan at Aston Villa, has rediscovered his form in the Premier League and is having a standout season, boosting his value since departing Real Madrid.

Asensio’s quality, versatility, and experience in top-level competitions make him an appealing target for Diego Simeone, who wants to add more firepower to his attack. The report adds that PSG are open to negotiating his transfer for a fee in the region of €20 million.
