Barcelona lost key superstar Robert Lewandowski to an injury earlier this month, during the comeback 4-3 win over Celta Vigo in La Liga.

The veteran striker had been in brilliant form this season before getting sidelined with a muscle injury which is set to keep him out of action for at least three weeks.

Lewandowski has been ruled out of Saturday’s Copa del Rey final vs. Real Madrid while he is also expected to miss the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Inter Milan.

Return date still not clear

Now, according to Polish publication Meczyki (h/t SPORT), Lewandowski’s return to action remains uncertain, with further medical tests scheduled for next week to assess his recovery.

Sources close to the player suggest that important updates are expected in the coming days. At the moment, no one, including Lewandowski himself, is ready to confirm a specific date for his comeback during the final stretch of the season.

Lewandowski and Barcelona’s medical team have decided to continue with the standard recovery protocol for now.

A decisive round of tests is scheduled for the end of next week, which should provide clarity on when and where the striker might return to the pitch.

Given the importance of the upcoming fixtures, the Catalan giants are approaching the situation with caution.

While no one at Barcelona is considering rushing the recovery or taking unnecessary risks, it is clear that Lewandowski is a vital part of Hansi Flick’s squad.

In this regard, the result of next Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Inter could influence the timing of Lewandowski’s return.

The Champions League remains the top objective of the season, and his potential involvement in the second leg is still uncertain, pending the outcome of next week’s crucial medical evaluations.
