As the 2024-2025 season approaches its final phase, clubs across Europe are now planning their moves for the upcoming summer transfer window. This is also the case for FC Barcelona, who still are competing for two big trophies, i.e., the UEFA Champions League and La Liga.
After having such a successful season, the Catalans are looking to retain most of their players for the next season. However, one area in which they can undertake a big sale is the defence, as the Blaugrana team currently has a surplus of centre-backs in their ranks.
Inigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsi have been the most preferred starters for Hansi Flick this season, and their status is unlikely to change going into the next season.
On the other hand, Ronald Araujo has seen his starting role slip out of his hands, even though he is an important player for Flick and has been playing a lot of minutes since his recovery.
However, the fact that he is not starting the most important games makes him ponder his future at the club, and he would not find it very hard to leave, as there was news of a lowered release clause from July 1 to 15.
This aspect of his new contract with Barcelona is also raising the interest of some big clubs across Europe, and SPORT reports that Bayern Munich are once again thinking about making a move for him this summer.

The Bavarians are looking to remodel their defence, with the departure of their Korean centre-back Kim Min-Jae, who has not been able to adapt very well to the Bundesliga. Bayern are willing to sell him, but would then also look to buy a replacement with the funds they get from his sale.
Currently, Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Juventus are some of the club’s keeping an eye on the Bayern defender, but it remains to be seen which of these sides will get the Korean.
Meanwhile, Bayern also have a big list of potential replacements, with Jonathan Tah and Dean Huijsen among other names that interest the Bavarians, in addition to Ronald Araujo. Furthermore, Juventus and Chelsea also like the Uruguayan.
For now, the Germans are looking at the defender to make his position clear. If he is willing to leave Barcelona, Bayern will make a move for him, but if he makes it clear that he wants to stay at Barcelona, the operation will not be pursued.
